Definition of Academic Integrity:

Academic integrity encompasses honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical behavior in all aspects of academic work, including but not limited to coursework, examinations, research, projects, presentations, and collaboration with peers. It involves upholding the principles of intellectual honesty, acknowledging sources properly, and adhering to the rules and standards of academic conduct.

Responsibilities of Learners:

   - Follow instructions and guidelines provided by teachers and academic staff regarding assignments, examinations, and academic conduct.

   - Seek clarification from teachers or academic advisors if unsure about the expectations or requirements of an academic assignment or activity.

   - Report any incidents of academic dishonesty or misconduct observed or suspected to a teacher, administrator, or other appropriate authority.

Prohibited Behaviors:

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and constitute violations of academic integrity:

   - Cheating: Copying or using unauthorized materials, resources, or aids during examinations or assignments.

   - Plagiarism: Presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as one's own without proper attribution or acknowledgment.

   - Collusion: Unauthorized collaboration with other learners or individuals in the completion of academic work intended to be done independently.

   - Falsification: Fabricating or altering data, results, citations, or other academic content to deceive or mislead others.

   - Academic Misconduct: Any other behavior that compromises the integrity, fairness, or credibility of academic work, including but not limited to unauthorized use of technology, submission of work previously graded or submitted for academic credit, and any form of dishonesty or deception.

Consequences of Violations:

Violations of academic integrity will result in disciplinary action, which may include but is not limited to:

   - Reduction of grade or score on the assignment or examination in question.

   - Resubmission of the assignment with a penalty.

   - Assignment of additional coursework or academic activities related to the violation.

   - Notification of parents or guardians regarding the violation and consequences.

   - Referral to school administration for further disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, in cases of repeated or serious violations.

Reporting and Resolution:

Any member of the Orli International Academy community who observes or suspects a violation of academic integrity is encouraged to report the incident promptly and confidentially to a teacher, academic advisor, or administrator. Reports will be investigated thoroughly and impartially, respecting the rights and privacy of all parties involved. Learners found responsible for academic misconduct will be afforded due process and the opportunity to respond to the allegations before any disciplinary action is taken.

Education and Prevention:

Orli International Academy is committed to educating learners about the principles of academic integrity and providing resources and support to promote ethical behavior and responsible scholarship. We will provide guidance on proper citation practices, research methodologies, and academic writing skills, as well as opportunities for learners to develop critical thinking skills, independent inquiry, and a strong sense of ethical responsibility.
